Remember - don´t relapse

“Remember - don´t relapse. This is an Exhibition of the Spanish Civil War posters from Abbey of Montserrat”, a collection of 117 propaganda posters printed between 1936 and 1939.

On the one hand the exhibition lets us travel around the war vicissitudes, slogans, ideals or images. On the other hand, it offers the vision of personalities of the period through the testimonies that they left us of the Civil War: a text by the pope Pius XI, the reasons of the cardinal Vidal i Barraquer, the historical and spiritual analysis of Carles Cardó, but also of Christian humanism figures as Luigi Sturzo, De Gasperi, Giorgio La Pira, Maritain, Saint-Exupéry and Bernanos, together with antifascist writers as André Malreaux, Husley, Octavio Paz, George Orwell and Koestler.

In the words of the exhibition Exhibition Commissary, the conflict “must be remembered so it does not happen again, so that everyone can learn that dialogue and respect for other people’s opinions must govern our lives. But there is still one thing we must leave for those who come after us: the need to beg forgiveness that we all must have (...).  Neither one side nor the other who came into confrontation have any reason to brag about what they did, but rather to beg forgiveness.
