Ecosystems. Fragile worlds

Without a doubt there is no other country in Europe that allows you in a one-day trip to go from a wet, captivating and magic environment of a solitaire and old parched forest in the Cantabrian mountain range to the dry, languid and elegant shapes of the dune systems of Levante and Andalusia zones. All these after crossing enormous steppes and paramos, big pine groves, deep and winding canyons of rivers, sweet lagoons and high snow-covered mountains of mediterranean forest.

Not in vain, we have the fortune to still count with a fauna where lynxes, wolves, bears, black vultures and imperial eagles, among other many important species, still walk around this old Iberia where fortunately, there are sufficient rustic places to allow the existence of such fascinating species.

At the moment, 1,587 protected natural spaces with different ecosystems are the refuge of so singular species. Spain has gone from 0.6% of protected territory in the Seventies, to 11.8% nowadays. We are the model of Europe and have surpassed the 11% the world-wide average. In total, more than 6 million terrestrial hectares and 250,000 marine determine the Spanish geography and represent our most valuable patrimony.

The ecosystems that this exhibition shows are, truly, the most representative of our nature and, those that hoard our appraised fauna.

This exhibition is about 10 of the most representative ecosystems of Spanish nature. Through 10 “natural scenes” different landscapes are represented with big format photographs. The background takes us to the nature with spectacular landscape, whereas, in other planes genuine fauna can be observed. This provides the visitor with the sensation of being in nature surrounded by its most interesting fauna, with a three-dimensional effect that allows us to obtain effects of real volumes.
